Inventory and Stocktaking in SAP
With the certified Membrain stock-taking function in SAP MM and SAP WM it is possible to assign your inventory documents to machine operators from SAP MM and SAP WM. The inventory data are then transferred to the mobile devices for counting. The typical problem of documents locked during stock-taking in SAP is resolved by the Membrain inventory management monitor for SAP. During the stock-take, the inventories are recorded offline or online by the employee. Then the stock-take results are fed back into the SAP system. The materials planning overview in SAP or the Membrain inventory management monitor for SAP displays how the stock-take documents were distributed among the operators and the status of the stock-take process in SAP.
Demonstrations of our mobile solutions for stock-taking materials management (SAP MM) or warehouse management (SAP WM) are available at any time.
We are happy to carry out workshops on analysing your inventory in SAP and the underlying processes. Once we have gathered your inventory requirements for a mobile inventory in SAP and presented the potential of mobile inventory management in SAP, we will show you our innovative mobile inventory management solutions, tried-and-tested over thousands of times in SAP. You will then receive a quotation for the quick implementation of a mobile SAP solution for inventory management in SAP MM or SAP WM.
Mobile data acquisition in a SAP/ERP environment
There are various options for introducing mobile data acquisition to an existing SAP or ERP infrastructure. It can be integrated in the system itself, and in the components adjacent to this system (e.g. production machines that send feedback to SAP). In the simplest conceivable scenario, the mobile data acquisition system can be connected to a traffic light that communicates with the machine operator’s mobile device rather than SAP.
An important point in this respect is that the solution being introduced is scalable. Not only are the technologies changing rapidly – from (RFID) handheld scanner to smartphone – so are the requirements. For example, mobile data acquisition can initially be used with goods receipts, then expanded, step by step to goods issues, picking, dispatch, maintenance, etc. If this extension takes place within SAP, high costs can be incurred.
Native Application, Online/Offline Capable and Scalable
While the market for so-called browser solutions has been flooded, we had already started specialising in developing native applications more ten years ago. The benefits of our approach are clear. The application has better performance than the browser solution and can also be operated offline in the event of a power failure. This is important in factory workshops or warehouses in areas without WLAN coverage.
The acquired data can also be buffered if the connection or SAP/ERP system is lost/unavailable. The data is then transferred as soon as an online connection to SAP has been re-established.
An additional benefit is that several systems, e.g. a Microsoft SQL database and a SAP system can be integrated on a single interface. This makes it easier to integrate third party systems such as quality assurance, PDA and MES, i.e. areas which are not traditionally considered among the strengths of SAP.
It is also possible to create very powerful and intuitive front ends without restricting the limited options of browser applications. This significantly increases productivity and user acceptance.
